Must Have for Summer... for $19.50!

OK - So I haven't shopped at Express since freshman year of college, and I'm pretty sure whatever I bought at that time was a polyester/rayon nightmare... so I was very suprised to find such a great piece from them! This cotton racerback tank dress is the easiest item for your summer wardrobe. It comes in tons of colors, and you can change it up so easily! A belt, a necklace, a scarf, leggings - you could make it work so many different ways. Ok, so you may not wear it to a nice restaurant or out on the town, but its perfect for any casual event - a concert, an outdoor lunch, or a swimsuit cover-up. It also comes in stripes, but I personally try to stay away from horizontal stripes!

These dresses are currently on sale for $19.50 (regulary $29.50) and are available in stores and on their website: http://www.express.com/catalog/product.jsp?productId=17706&parentCategoryId=2&categoryId=22&subCategoryId=243

Also - check out this link to Shopbop's "Blank Canvas" Lookbook, where they take a similar black tank dress (their version is $75) and style it 5 different ways with accessories: http://www.shopbop.com/ci/features/fashion/blankcanvas/blankcanvas_0.html

Target Summer Finds

Target always gets great stuff for the summer months - all at good prices.

One line I'm excited about is Loomstate for Target. Their original line is available at Barney's Co-op, and their tees and tanks are the softest cotton. Their Target line is super cute, and made with 100% organic cotton.

Love the hot pink horse tee...

and the blue owl tee!

Shoes!

Target sandals are great for summer, trendy, comfortable, and affordable.

These wedges are retro cute - great with an eyelit summer dress, or yellow cotton sundress, or a denim skirt and white tank!

Miss Trish of Capri did a Target line of summer sandals this year, and these Gold Lion t-strap flats are my favorite - they would go with everything!!

These brown multi-colored flats with bead detail are so versatile! I can think of so many things to match them to! A great addition of color to almost any outfit this summer!

Gladiator flats are big this summer and these look much more expensive than they actually are. The pewter finish is a great mix of edgy and glam! Put them with a plain black cotton tank dress and you are done!

Jewelry - The Erikson Beamon for Target collection is bright and flashy and oversized (my three favorite types of fashion jewelry). Here are a couple of my favorite peices. Inexpensive and they make enough of a statement on their own

New Makeup Fav!

My new favorite make-up this month is a new release from Bare Escentuals. I love their mineral veil, especially the tinted version. They've just introduced a Hydrating Mineral Veil and I snagged a sample from Sephora - its awesome! Supposedly its water-based and that gives it a more luminous look on your face. I don't understand the science behind but I know I like it! It blends into the skin so you just get this great glow, and not a powdery look. Its not available on its own at Sephora yet, but its included in the Siren of the Sea Hydrating and Brightening Box Set, and its out of stock on the Bare Escentuals website, but you should see it at Sephora next month!

Summer Music!

There are some CD's that have been stuck in my car all month on repeat, here are three that I love!

The first one is Girl Talk's "Feed the Animals" - a mash up cd of everything from Rod Stewart, Jay-Z, Avril Lavigne, Flo-rida, and on and on. Its not on itunes, but you can order it from Amazon.com. Paulie calls it crack for his ears, and its the best cd to dance to I've ever heard. Great for working out too!

The next one is Matt & Kim's "Grand" - its not like Girl Talk, this is more indie-pop, lots of drums and keyboards, and catchy beats. "Daylight" will get stuck in your head immediately!

Last, I am loving Ra Ra Riot's "The Rhumb Line" - its a large band sound, kind of soft alternative, download "Can You Tell" and "Dying is Fine" and I think you'll like them.
  • Other songs in rotation on my ipod are Yeah Yeah Yeah's "Zero", Ray LaMongtagne's "You are the Best Thing", Death Cab for Cutie's "Diamond and a Tether", Keane's "Spiralling", and All American Rejects' "Breakin".
